New from Blancpain, this diamond-set timepiece, dubbed St. Valentin, might have inadvertently put a literal spin on the humble notion of “wearing one’s heart on one’s sleeve”—the brighter, the better. A total of 68 diamonds are set within the bezel and lugs, while the mother-of-pearl dial is adorned with eight. A heart set with 19 rubies marks 12 o’clock at the top of the dial, and the seconds hand is decorated in the form of Cupid’s arrow. Blancpain developed a new movement for the St. Valentin, the Caliber 913, which showcases a new silicon balance spring and a glucydur balance wheel fitted with micrometric regulating screws. The 29 mm timepiece comes with two interchangeable alligator leather straps in red and white.
Watch Wednesday: Blancpain’s St. Valentin
The Swiss manufacturer created a watch inspired by eternal love—something that, with any luck, may be felt by its recipient.
