In Kyiv, Svitlana Bevza Built a House For Her Namesake Brand

Svitlana Bevza’s eponymous label now has a permanent address in the city where the fashion designer founded the company in 2006. This summer, the House of BEVZA opened in Kyiv, on Olhynska Street, near the Ivan Franko National Theatre and among international maisons Van Cleef & Arpels and Graff. Designed by Bevza with Yevheniia Dubrovska of YD Interior Studio, the space translates the designer’s pared-back vocabulary into architecture. White walls and custom furniture pieces create a quiet backdrop for the collections and notework accents—an Italian Blue Mare marble counter, fitting-room sconces shaped like wheat ears, and furniture and fixtures made by Ukrainian fabricators.

The wheat motif is not solely decoration, Bevza introduced the spikelet in her collections in 2018 and showed it in New York the following year, initially as a way of talking about Ukrainian land and the country’s place among the world’s largest grain exporters. After 2022, the symbol took on a second life, appearing on jewelry, bag hardware, shoes, and pendants, and selling to Ukrainian women abroad who wanted something to signal where they were from.

The House is designed to live beyond the shopping experience. A large central mirror moves to reveal a concealed projection wall, so the floor can host screenings, talks, and other events. The terrace will welcome seasonal café pop-ups, and yoga sessions are planned before opening hours. Later this year, the house will expand again with B Gentle, a private members club built around dinners, wine tastings, screenings, lectures, and performances.

That it is in Kyiv matters, because the city is not simply BEVZA’s point of origin. It is still where the brand operates and where the clothes are made. Bevza has spent the years since Russia’s full-scale invasion moving between Ukraine and abroad, her children schooled outside the country while the business stayed put. The renovation stretched over more than a year, including a winter when power and heating outages became part of the practical rhythm of getting the space finished.

The House is not a retrospective so much as an indication of where Bevza wants the next chapter to happen: in Kyiv, with a space that can hold the clothes but also the dinners, screenings and gatherings starting to form around them.
