First exhibited at Watches and Wonders Geneva this year, artist Sarah-Anaïs Desbenoit’s immersive installation, “Hermès Time suspended,” is now nested into the first floor of the maison’s Madison Avenue flagship. Throughout the cinematic exhibition, the artist evokes the design iconography and emotional states associated with train travel—from miniatures of stations and lamp posts to an ethereal glow that alludes to movement and liminal spaces.

“The ‘Hermès Time suspended’ exhibition held at the 706 Madison store offers a wonderful opportunity to showcase our collections and creative worlds to a wide audience, whether they are passionate about watchmaking or drawn to exceptional craftsmanship,” Laurent Dordet, CEO Hermès Horloger, tells Surface following a walk-through. “Exploring the exhibition will offer every visitor a suspended moment in time—an immersive journey into the world of Hermès Horloger.”
Amidst the sensory features of “Hermès Time suspended,” the maison has premiered three Arceau Jour de casting watches unique to the boutique. They feature “adorable dogs brought to life through extraordinary artisanal techniques,” Dordet says. These include a black and white Orson dog, crafted from wood marquetry that’s been meticulously assembled like a jigsaw puzzle. There are also compelling examples of miniature and cloisonné enamel.
