A Celebration of Yves Saint Laurent's Photographic Legacy With a Vintage Pop-Up
For the closing weekend of its exhibition “Yves Saint Laurent and Photography,” the International Center of Photography turned its cafe into a big statement space. For a special one-day-only event, ICP hosted an Yves Saint Laurent Vintage Market, pairing archival garments with the images that inspired them. The exhibition itself traced Saint Laurent's five-decade fascination with photography, and the market mimicked that same process. Four dealers brought a different lens to the house's history. ANCIEN, run by Marie Laffort, laid out apparel and accessories stretching from the 1970s to the 2000s. Manifold Vintage's Jenne, a historian by training, used her booth like a companion exhibit, walking visitors through YSL's date-coding system (season plus year, introduced in the mid-1980s), which lined up with the inscriptions on the Polaroids adorning the space.
