The House of Suntory and Surface Celebrate Hibiki Japanese Harmony’s Chiso Bottle Collaboration
Acclaimed artists, designers, and gallery owners, as well as cultural and culinary figures assembled within The Gallery by Odo, the epicurean exhibition space helmed by chef Hiroki Odo of two-Michelin-star Odo. The occasion: a multicourse dinner in celebration of The House of Suntory’s Hibiki Japanese Harmony collaboration with Chiso. The historic Kyoto-based kimono house, renowned for preserving the art of Yūzen silk dyeing, reimagined Hibiki’s 24-facet bottle, representing Japan’s two-dozen traditional micro-seasons, with vibrant jewel-toned floral motifs. A flight of custom Hibiki whisky cocktails, designed by Martiny’s co-founder and beverage director Takuma Watanabe, paired with a palate-pleasing menu of fresh sashimi, Japanese-style fried chicken, Wagyu steak, chef’s Futomaki specialty sushi roll, and more. The concept of Omotenashi—thoughtful, wholehearted hospitality—imbued the elegant evening, as did conversation and a sense of conviviality.
