MacDowell Honors Sade Lythcott and Tina Roth Eisenberg at Its Annual National Benefit
At Gotham Hall in New York City, MacDowell turned its annual National Benefit into a celebration of two leaders whose influence has reached beyond their own institutions. The evening’s top honor, the Marian MacDowell Arts Advocacy Award, went to Sade Lythcott, who has led Harlem’s National Black Theatre (NBT) since 2008. Founded by her mother, NBT is entering its most ambitious chapter with a $100 million redevelopment that will pair a new theater with affordable housing for artists. The night’s second honor, the Hillcrest Arts Impact Award, went to Tina Roth Eisenberg, founder and CEO of CreativeMornings. A Swiss-born graphic designer now based in Brooklyn, Roth Eisenberg launched CreativeMornings as a New York lecture series. It has since become a global community of 25,000 people. “Sade Lythcott and Tina Roth Eisenberg each embody the spirit of MacDowell to support, inspire, and champion the leading creative lights of our time,” shared MacDowell's Executive Director Chiwoniso Kaitano. Guests also enjoyed performances and testimonials from MacDowell Fellows including Nicholas Boggs, Ira Sachs, Aeshea Harris, David Land, and Rachel Dickstein.
