Tilda Swinton seems to operate on a higher level than us mere mortals, so of course the Scottish performer’s latest project—a capsule collection of eyewear for South Korean brand Gentle Monster—has an otherworldly appeal. “We almost captured a piece of Tilda’s soul in the collection, thanks to her extraordinary involvement,” says Hankook Kim, the label’s founder and chief executive. “With every detail from design direction to color and style, Tilda has been directly involved.” In the nine-piece lineup, which can be found at Colette, Dover Street Market, Nordstrom, and Net-a-Porter, Swinton’s eccentric essence comes across loud and clear. Capped with rosy pink, mirrored silver, and yellow-tinted lenses in oversize frames, the monochromatic specs channel a retro-futuristic aesthetic that is unmistakably Swinton.
