Dior Draws a Crowd for the Medallion Chair Opening Cocktail

On November 29, Dior invited Miami Art Week attendees to celebrate the Medallion Chair exhibition’s U.S. debut (after opening at Salone del Mobile in the fall) with an intimate cocktail at Superblue. Guests were invited to discover the work of 17 international artists—among them Pierre Yovanovitch, Atang Tshikare, and Dimore Studio—who reinterpreted the Medallion Chair for the modern era. A symbol of the Louis XVI style that Christian Dior selected to adorn his then-fledgling house on Avenue Montaigne in the mid-1940s, the Medallion Chair long seated guests at his fashion shows in “sober, simple, and above all classic and Parisian” décor, as he recounted in his memoirs. Attendees included Venus Williams, Mia Moretti, Gisela Colón, Ricky Martin, and more. Photos by Joe Schildhorn/BFA.
