Gucci Gathers a Crowd to Celebrate Awol Erizku’s First Monograph

On June 27, Gucci, Antwaun Sargent, and Aperture celebrated the launch event and signing of “Mystic Parallax,” the first major monograph dedicated to the work of Awol Erizku. Published by Aperture, the title showcases Erizku’s multivalent practice that critically engages art history, personal experience, and Pan-African thought and symbolism. Guests mixed and mingled while enjoying light bites and cocktails, including an Ethiopian honey wine—a tribute to Erizku’s heritage—at the Gucci Wooster boutique in New York. Notables in attendance include Cameron Welch, Adam Eli, Kerby Jean-Raymond, Willa Bennett, Quil Lemons, Sanford Biggers, Hank Willis Thomas, Whitney Mallett, Antoine Gregory, and more.
