A small floral print has made a big impact on Bottega Veneta’s pre-fall accessories. Like so many of creative director Tomas Maier’s ready-to-wear hallmarks (think: thoughtfully cinched dresses and innovative knitting techniques), the motif of these patent boots brings a delicacy that enhances their silhouette. At the same time, a touch of the fashion house’s signature woven leather pattern is subtly added at the toe. The designer’s intuition for Italian fusion will be showcased on a larger scale when Bottega Veneta’s Rodeo Drive Maison opens in May. The concept store will combine the Milanese brand identity Maier has so fervently modernized with his interpretation of Southern California architecture. An unlikely pairing perhaps, but it is such blending that allows Maier to continue pushing design forward.
