Photographer Barbara Mensch shares the story behind the Brooklyn Bridge.

For several decades, Brooklyn-based photographer Barbara Mensch has been photographing the Brooklyn Bridge. This work was developed into her 2018 book, “In the Shadow of Genius,” and, more recently, into an exhibition at the public gallery at the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York. The latter features 12 photographs and a pamphlet that outlines the story of the bridge’s designer, John Roebling. Mensch traveled to Roebling’s Germany hometown and traced his journey to the U.S. to understand his experiences, influences, and intention. Of equal importance, she takes into account the others lives that went into its majesty.

Es Devlin led the production design for Lady Gaga’s free concert for 2.1 million people.
With her May 3 performance on Rio de Janeiro’s Copacabana Beach, Lady Gaga set several world records—including reaching the largest concert audience in the 21st century as well as amassing the largest audience for a woman performer ever. The dazzling
production design was led by artist, designer, and frequent Gaga collaborator, Es Devlin, who enhanced the theatrical experience of the performer’s five-act gothic opera.

Detroit’s Renaissance Center skyscraper megacomplex, once one of the world’s largest developments, is set to shrink.

With General Motors soon to vacate their current headquarters in Detroit’s aging multi-skyscraper megacomplex, the Renaissance Center, the automaker and developer Bedrock—a pivotal force in the city’s comeback—tasked Gensler and James Corner Field Associates with designing a plan for its future. Their proposal: reduce the mass of 5.5-million-square-foot center by demolishing two of the five towers within. To counter this, preservationists and elected officials are on a mission to landmark the RenCen and prevent such change from happening.

With the exhibition “Nakagin and Kiyotomo: Architectural Icons from Tokyo, 1970s–1980s,” Tokyo’s M+ museum
explores the relationship between architect Kisho Kurokawa and designer Shiro Kuramata. The show explores both Kurokawa’s Nakagin Capsule Tower (and presents one of its 23 preserved pods), as well as Kuramata’s famed Kiyotomo sushi bar (a portion of which has been recreated within the museum).

Colombian artist Olga de Amaral’s acclaimed Fondation Cartier exhibition moves to ICA Miami.

A mesmerizing immersion into the breadth, depth, and scale of artist Olga de Amaral’s repertoire, her just opened eponymous ICA Miami exhibition features more than 50 sculptural works and installations, some of which are being shown out of Colombia for the first time. A previous version of the exhibition was hosted in Paris by Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain. Both were designed by architect Lina Ghotmeh, who imagined a vertical forest wherein the pieces appeared to grow organically.

Amid luxury industry turmoil, Miu Miu reports a 60 percent increase in sales.

Miu Miu has reported a 60 percent boost in sales in the first three months of 2025, with Prada Group as a whole reporting a 13 percent revenue increase from 1.19 billion euros to 1.34 billion euros this Q1, year over year. The Italian fashion label attributes this to demand over its leather goods and its ever-developing footwear category (and the buzz around its Gymnasium pop-up stores). Prada Group saw double-digit growth in overall sales across Europe, the Americas, and Asia—with sales in the Middle East up by 31 percent.
