MOCA Throws a Star-Studded Soiree in Little Tokyo

On April 15, bicoastal A-listers descended upon the Geffen Contemporary, MOCA’s outpost in the Little Tokyo neighborhood of Los Angeles for the museum's annual gala. The evening toasted exhibiting artists Carl Craig and Henry Taylor, treating the 1,100 patrons and bonafide celebrities in attendance to a preview of “Carl Craig: Party/After-Party.” The evening’s festivities also toasted “Henry Taylor: B Side,” and its forthcoming journey to the Whitney following a critically-acclaimed debut at MOCA. Revelers closed out the evening with a live jazz performance by Grammy-winning musician Samara Joy. Notables in attendance included Carolyn Clark Powers, Keanu Reeves, Betye Saar, Eric Andre, Catherine Opie, and Nazy Nazhand. Photos: Zack Whitford and Owen Kolasinski/BFA.
