For AW ‘25, Ulla Johnson taps Julie Hamisky and Rachel Cusk as artistic collaborators.

At New York Fashion Week, Ulla Johnson enlisted French artist Julie Hamisky and writer Rachel Cusk to explore themes of transformation, craftsmanship, and the delicate tension between strength and fragility. Hamisky’s sculptural contributions, including an eight-foot bronze poppy and electroplated floral adornments, preserved nature’s fleeting beauty in metal, echoing Johnson’s dedication to handcraft. Cusk’s meditation on self-creation and the intimate ritual of dressing deepened the collection’s narrative, reflecting on identity, choice, and the elusive desire to be both seen and momentarily lost.
