On Monday, Oct. 12, Surface and Phillips co-hosted the first edition of The Exchange featuring London-based artist and architect Will Alsop and Royal Academy of Arts secretary and chief executive Charles Saumarez Smith. The conversation, which took place at Phillips London Berkeley Square location, was moderated by writer and sociologist Sarah Thornton. Alsop and Saumarez Smith discussed the relationship between art and architecture, the interaction between painting and architecture, and the restrictions of using computers in design.
