It’s no easy feat to create a product line that has a strong industrial backbone centered on craft and material with a certain elegance, a certain lightness, a certain relaxed familiarity. Nonetheless, Original BTC has done it with their impressive offering of lighting for home and office.

Maybe it has something to do with founder Peter Bowles’ background in the elegant form and absolute function of cutlery. Maybe it has to do with the almost 30-year-old firm’s mix of traditional hand-crafting techniques and new technologies. Maybe it has something to do with the UK brand’s local approach to design and production (BTC does stand for British Timeless Classics, after all). Whatever the case, when the company does go all out, as it does with its stunning Cranton Pendant, which emits a soft ambient glow thanks to a shell made of overlapping hexagonal bone china discs, the results are both arresting and inviting.
