Designer of the Day: Bryan O’Sullivan

Irish designer Bryan O’Sullivan always tries to bring the comforts of a five-star hotel home. His studio has spent more than a decade creating interiors across residential, hospitality, and restaurant projects, guided by an eclectic European point of view and the classical proportions of mid-century French and Italian architecture. Starting his career under David Collins, he has since worked on Claridge’s and The Connaught in London and the Frick’s new Westmoreland restaurant. His latest project is Chilston Court, a new residential development in Greenwich, Connecticut, from Caspi Development, the team behind Fouquet’s New York.

Izumi Kato Brings His Childhood Pastime to Perrotin New York

After five years, Izumi Kato returns to New York City this fall with a solo exhibition at Perrotin. The Tokyo-based artist’s latest works, made between 2025 and 2026, reflect a change in inspiration. Kato has long been known for figures sprouting flowers and botanical forms. Now he is turning to the sea. A lifelong fisherman who once tried to make a career of it, Kato fills his new paintings and sculptures with fish, coral, and other marine life. His signature hitogata, or humanoid figures, sport frog-like legs and mermaid tails. Some carry fishing lures, attached like remoras clinging to a shark.
